Tips on reading your syllabus

Getting off to the right start for the term includes assessing what your coursework load will look like in the months ahead. Before we dive into the topic of a course syllabus, watch this video about getting organized for the upcoming term.

Gather a syllabus for each course

For each course you are enrolled in, take a good look at the syllabus, focusing on the following three pieces of information:

  1. What the course learning objectives are
  2. The readings and assignments you’ll be responsible for
  3. The instructor’s contact information and availability, including office hours

Have a syllabus for each course on hand as you proceed with this goal.
